Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty)

Improve the signs of aging around the eyes

BOOK TREATMENT

How It Works

This is a procedure where the extra skin of the upper or lower eyelids is removed to make the eyes appear more open and to give a more youthful appearance. Often, excess pockets of fat also need to be removed to make the eyelid skin smoother and more flat.

The upper eyelid blepharoplasty is done through an incision in the natural upper eyelid crease in order to better hide the scar.

The lower eyelid blepharoplasty is done through an incision just under the eyelashes of the lower eyelid. The excess skin and fat are removed and the incisions are sutured. In some cases where the lower eyelids are very lax, a procedure called a canthopexy, where the lower eyelids are tightened, will also be done at the same time.

FAQ's

  • Recovery from eyelid surgery

Bruising and swelling generally subside in 10 to 14 days, which may be when you feel comfortable going out in public again. Scars from the surgical incisions may take one to two months to fade. Let your discomfort guide you. You can resume normal activities at the end of the first week and mild exercise at the end of 2 weeks. It may take 4 weeks to get back to intense physical activity.

  • Can blepharoplasty be performed on both men and women?

Yes. It should be noted that a number of both men and women of all ages opt for upper or lower eyelid surgery to achieve a more youthful appearance or to improve poor vision from sagging skin.

  • Is there an age limit to blepharoplasty surgery?

There is no set age for eyelid surgery. Excessive skin in the upper lid or bulging fat pads in the lower lid are common signs of aging. If you are in good health with no major eye problems age should not deter you from surgery.

  • Is there any visible scarring from eyelid surgery?

There is commonly some bruising and swelling which gradually resolves after one to two weeks. Incisions are made following the natural skin folds and creases of the eyelid. Once healed, the hairline scars begin to fade, leaving a very faint incision line that becomes virtually unnoticeable after the healing is complete. Although the majority of healing is complete after three months, the scar will continue to improve for up to nine to twelve months after surgery.
