Experience smoother, healthier, more vibrant skin, with a significant, immediate change in skin texture and tightness.
The Allura Radiance Laser Peel procedure was designed for those wanting more than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels, and have little time for a prolonged healing process. We are able to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars, acne scars, keratosis, and pigmentary problems and give back a healthy glow to your face with a Radiance Laser Peel (RLP).
The Radiance Laser Peel is a light epidermal peel performed with our SmartXide CO2 laser. It is the perfect step for patients seeking results between microdermabrasion and full skin resurfacing.
Typically, the procedure is repeated 2-4 times, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Healing takes 2-4 days. Symptoms immediately following a Radiance Laser Peel resemble a sunburn, with minor peeling on the second day. Redness will begin to fade by the second day, and can easily be covered by makeup on the third day.
Pain is generally minimal and can be addressed if necessary with over-the-counter pain reliever.
Patients experience smoother, healthier, more vibrant skin, with a significant, immediate change in skin texture and tightness.
Radiance Laser Peels FAQ
What is the Allura Radiance Laser Peel?
It is a minimal laser peel that precisely removes the outermost layers of the skin. The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the problem to be corrected: wrinkles, scars, keratosis or pigmentation problems.
Who should consider an Allura Radiance Laser Peel?
Any person who is interested in pursuing a more aggressive approach to a smoother, tighter appearance and that is not interested in the extended recovery time of a full CO2 Laser treatment. This treatment is ideal for persons with skin type I to III. It is not recommended for darker skin types.
How is the Allura Radiance Laser Peel different from Microdermabrasion?
Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the outer layer of the skin. Recovery time is generally a few hours and patients will generally only experience minor redness of the skin after treatment. The Allura Radiance Laser Peel is a minimal to full epidermal peel (20-50 microns). Recovery times are usually two to four days with the patient experiencing tenderness similar to a sunburn.
How often does an Allura Radiance Laser Peel need to be done?
A patient will generally enjoy the results of a Radiance Laser Peel for between six to twelve months. However, additional procedures can be performed as required. Often a regimented program of two to three treatments offers extended results. We will of course recommend an appropriate treatment program for you based on many factors.
What can the patient expect?
Smoother, healthier more vibrant skin. You will notice a significant and immediate change in skin texture and tightness. Immediately after the procedure you can apply an ice pack for a few minutes. An ointment will be applied after treatment to act as a barrier to keep air away from the skin while you grow new Epithelium. Ointment will be provided for you to take home to apply for the next 2 days.
It will feel like you have a bad sunburn for the first day. You will have minor peeling and itchiness over the next 2 days. By day 2 the redness will begin to fade. You can start using your regular moisturizer after 2 days and apply makeup after 3 days. It is recommended that you use a mineral make-up (it covers redness and is not a base for bacteria growth). Patients should go without sun exposure for a period of time before and after treatment and most importantly should always use sunscreen.
What type of anesthesia is used?
A topical anesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area thirty to forty five minutes before the procedure.
Will it be necessary for patients to wear any type dressing or bandages after the procedure?
No. Your treatment provider will provide an ointment such as Aquafore or Vaseline which will create a barrier to keep the air away from your skin while you grow new epithelium. This is typically used for one to two days immediately following your procedure.
How long is the healing process?
The healing process varies from patient to patient but generally takes 3-5 days. The procedure can be performed on Thursday or Friday and you can return to work the following Monday.
